WHAT: All public defenders in all job roles are invited to BWW. It is always free. BWW is an ongoing series of drop-in sessions to support your well-being. Each session includes an experiential practice (meditation, mindfulness, gratitude, journaling, etc.) and/or facilitated discussion about sustaining well-being in public defense. Sometimes there is an introductory overview, but these sessions focus more on participatory experience and less on presentation.
GET INVOLVED: Please email [email protected] with any questions or feedback, or to propose a session.
Lawyer Well-Being (Massachusetts)
Well-Being Resource Directory
In September 2018, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) established an initial, temporary Steering Committee on Lawyer Well-Being to explore the state of lawyer well-being in the Commonwealth and to recommend how the Massachusetts legal community can and should address the serious concerns documented by the National Task Force on Lawyer Well-Being. In January 2020, the SJC announced the formation of a new, permanent Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being, created to help all Massachusetts lawyers achieve a healthy, positive, and productive balance of work, personal life, and health. Explore this site to learn more about the Committee’s history, mandate, and current work, and to read the SJC-Steering-Committee-Lawyer-Well-Being-Report-July-2019 published by the initial, temporary Steering Committee on Lawyer Well-Being.
