CPCS WELLNESS COMMITTEE: STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Consistent with CPCS’ core C.A.R.E., (Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence), values, the CPCS Wellness Committee, (“Committee”), is dedicated to empowering the wellness of both CPCS staff and private counsel.
• This Committee defines well-being as a continuous process in which we seek to thrive in all dimensions of life (physical, social,
existential, emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual and career).
• The Committee recognizes that zealous advocacy, community-oriented, holistic and culturally competent defense can only be sustained if all Community members are supported in maintaining their well-being.
• Thus, the Committee strives to ensure that the well-being of all staff and private counsel in the CPCS community (“Community”) is an integral consideration of all policies and decisions made by the agency.
It is the Committee’s mission to foster openness for Community members to learn about the wellness needs of the Community, and to make requests for resources and support to enable sustaining healthy careers.
The Committee advocates for these identified needs, as well as creates and recommends policies to improve the agency’s focus on well-being. Specifically, the Committee strives to: 1) educate staff and private counsel on the importance of wellness; 2) build awareness and increase comfort with and intentionality about topics such as wellness and self-care within the Community; 3) ensure that any steps towards wellness at CPCS are taken with cultural competence in mind; and 4) collaborate with the CPCS Equity and Diversity Committee, Human Resources and stakeholders in the legal community in pursuit of these goals.
