appeals court lawyerCriminal Appellate Moot Court Program

The post-conviction unit administers a moot court program in which members of the  panel serve as volunteer judges for panelists who want moot court practice before arguing their cases in court. The list of judges is available to any member of the panel, and the attorney being mooted is responsible for organizing the moot court session. Many volunteer judges have conference rooms or other spaces available for holding court. The unit also maintains a list of courtrooms that can be used for more formal sessions.

Volunteer judges can earn CLE credit for the time they devote to preparing and participating in a moot court, up to a total of four (4) CLE credits for each moot court they participate in.  CLE credit is not available for the advocates.
