Upcoming Webinar! A Year Later: Sharing your Experiences with DCF’s Disability Policy, February 6 from 1-2PM.
In the year since DCF’s Disability Policy was released, many attorneys have tried to use the policy to ensure that DCF meets its obligations to provide parents and children with disabilities the supports and services they need. In doing so, attorneys have identified some common issues with the policy and its implementation. For example, despite the policy’s requirement that DCF work collaboratively with parents to create an action plan that provides reasonable accommodations and services that are appropriate for that individual parent, DCF often fails to do so.
The Family Law Project of the Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee (MHLAC) is interested in challenging the policy and would like to hear from CAFL attorneys about their experiences to inform their efforts. Join the CAFL Legal Response team for a virtual lunch and learn on February 6, 2023 from 1-2PM to discuss DCF’s Disability Policy with attorneys from MHLAC. In addition to reviewing the highlights of the policy, we will learn about MHLAC’s efforts and participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences. Attendees will receive 1 CLE.
