Facilitated Discussion on How to Deal with Challenging Behaviors on the Part of Clients and Petitioner’s Counsel: 10 AM to 11AM
(One Hour)
(Limited to 25 participants)
Regional Coordinator’s Michael O’Brien (Bristol County) and Joan Legraw (Barnstable and Plymouth Counties) will facilitate a group discussion of several challenging behaviors on the part of clients and/or opposing counsel often encountered in commitment and guardianship cases. In small breakout groups, participants will discuss several hypothetical fact patterns, including client decisional ambivalence and/or resistance to advice, the role of standby counsel, and the failure of Petitioner to file appropriate pleadings in DNR and Rogers cases. All participants will then rejoin the main session to present the opinions and solutions of their group.
