This year our series focuses on how we engage and work with communities to tackle the issues of racial inequity in our legal systems. Participants leave with an understanding of the continuously evolving complexities of race in our criminal legal, juvenile, family regulation and mental health systems and how working collaboratively with community can mitigate the impact of the history of segregation and white supremacy in America, as it influences the legal systems in which we work.

Date: April 24, 2021, 1-3pm; Breakout 2-3pm
Engaging with the community is an important asset in the work of understanding why race matters. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has a number of organizations who have worked among and within community, to understand the needs of our clients and work to address those concerns. We have gathered a group of such organization to speak to participants about the wealth of services that they can provide for our clients within the community and how to access such services. These organization will engage with participants in a discussion about how race and equity impacts their work, their services and their community. Following a preliminary introduction of each organization, participants can choose which organization they would like to hear more from and join that organization in a breakout room.
