Tinia joined YAD in March of 2011. She received her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2009. Tinia had decided prior to law school that she wanted to pursue a career in public interest law. She graduated cum laude from Northeastern University with a B.S. in criminal justice in 2005. Tinia did outreach work with various nonprofits in Boston, working with youth committed to the Department of Youth Services and the Department of Children and Families while an undergraduate student. During her time in law school, Tinia participated in the Frederick Douglas Moot Court Competition and the Marshall Brennan Teaching Fellowship program. As a Marshall Brennan fellow, Tinia taught First Amendment law to high school students at the Parkway Academy of Technology and Health in West Roxbury, MA. Tinia also received a Massachusetts Bar Association fellowship, in recognition of her interest in pursuing a public interest law career, enabling her to work at the Children’s Law Center of Massachusetts.
