Our office is located within the Everett Mills building on Union Street in Lawrence. The entrance to our office is located between Common Street and Essex Street. There is ample parking behind the building.

Social Service Advocacy

The Social Service Advocates for the Public Defender Division serve as an integral member of the criminal defense team. Led by the attorney, the defense team provides zealous criminal defense and advocacy services to defendants who are charged with criminal offenses. The Social Service Advocates works with the attorney, investigator, and other team members to prepare a client’s case and to obtain the best possible legal outcome for the client. The role includes client biopsychosocial interviewing and assessment, social history investigation, clinical case management, alternative treatment and sentencing planning, and serves as a liaison between clients and programs. Social services intervention occurs at all stages of the court process, from arraignment through post-conviction.

Criminal Defense Investigators

As part of the defense team, our Lawrence Investigators work collaboratively with our attorneys and Social Service Advocates. They locate and interview witnesses and clients, and discover, collect, and analyze a wide variety of information that may assist in the representation of our clients.
