Michelle has been a staff attorney in the Brockton Commitment Unit since June 2013. She represents patients at Bridgewater State Hospital in commitment and authorization to treat petitions in District court and Superior Court. Prior to this, she was a staff attorney in the Roxbury Commitment Unit providing representation to patients at McLean Hospital and the two Department of Mental Health managed facilities in Boston, the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. Prior to these two positions, she practiced law in the Juvenile court and Probate and Family Court in court assigned cases representing parents, children and guardians in child abuse and neglect, CHINS, termination of parental rights and guardianship matters. She was also an attorney on the Mental Health Litigation Division’s Private Bar panel representing patients in community psychiatric hospitals. In the community, she has held many volunteer positions, with an interest in affordable housing and gentrification. She is a graduate of Brown University and the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and California.
