Cathleen L. Bennett is the Criminal Defense Training Director at the Committee for Public Counsel Services. As a trial lawyer in the Public Defender Division, she defends indigent clients charged with crimes in the state courts of Massachusetts. She is on the faculty at the National Criminal Defense College, Gideon’s Promise (formerly the Southern Public Defender Training Center), and has taught at trial advocacy and other programs across the country, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Cathy Bennett is an adjunct professor in trial advocacy at Boston College Law School. She is the author of numerous chapters for various MCLE publications on trial advocacy and substantive legal issues. She is the 2007 recipient of the Thurgood Marshall Award presented by the Committee for Public Counsel Services. In 2008 she received the “scholar-mentor award” from Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE).
