Decoding the Expert: Best Practices for Collaborating with Mental Health Examiners – IMEs TBD

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Delineate the purpose and scope of an Independent Medical Examination (IME) in mental health cases, including the ethical and procedural boundaries that govern the examiner’s role.
2. Employ best practices for preparing clients for an IME and for providing the mental health examiner with a focused and strategic case specific instructions.
3. Critically analyze and effectively utilize an IME’s opinions and recommendations to inform legal strategy, prepare for cross-examination, and challenge unfavorable findings in court.
