Decoding the Expert: Best Practices for Collaborating with Mental Health Examiners – IMEs TBD

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Delineate the purpose and scope of an Independent Medical Examination (IME) in mental health cases, including the ethical and procedural boundaries that govern the examiner’s role.
- Employ best practices for preparing clients for an IME and for providing the mental health examiner with a focused and strategic case specific instructions.
- Critically analyze and effectively utilize an IME’s opinions and recommendations to inform legal strategy, prepare for cross-examination, and challenge unfavorable findings in court.
