Nana Yankah graduated Cum Laude from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC-DCSL) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College in Boston.
During law school, Nana was a student attorney in the DC Law Students in Court (Criminal Division) program and the UDC-DCSL Juvenile and Special Education Law Clinic. She worked as a law clerk at Maryland Office of the Public Defender and interned at the Coalition for Juvenile Justice. In addition, Nana served as the Legislative Fellow for Council member LaRuby May (Ward 8) and drafted the Assessment on Children of Incarcerated Parents, The Indigenous Peoples’ Day Amendment Act, and the Jobs for D.C. College Graduates Amendment Act of 2015.
Nana was a recipient of the Dean’s Cup and also received the Edgar Cahn Community Service Award in May 2017.
Nana is a founding member of Law for Black Lives-DC(L4BL-DC), the legal support group for the Movement for Black Lives-DC, and served as one of the Executive Committee members until August 2017.
