This year our series focuses on how we engage and work with communities to tackle the issues of racial inequity in our legal systems. Participants leave with an understanding of the continuously evolving complexities of race in our criminal legal, juvenile, family regulation and mental health systems and how working collaboratively with community can mitigate the impact of the history of segregation and white supremacy in America, as it influences the legal systems in which we work.

Creating and maintaining community with clients and colleagues
Speakers: Dr. Ken Hardy
Date: April 11, 2023 1-4 PM
In order to create and maintain community with clients and colleagues, we believe we need to create processes, structures and practices that value relationships and relationship-building. Dr. Kenneth V. Hardy, the Director of the Eikenberg Institute for Relationships in New York will engage the head, heart, and spirit as he enlightens us on around strategies to create and maintain community as we respect the diversity of ways people develop and express knowledge; and provide a space for individuals to be in community with one another as their full, authentic selves. This community we seek to develop is critical as we continue to answer the critical question of Why Race Matters.
