SUMMARY:National Call to Action on Racial Equity
DESCRIPTION:Disclaimer: This event is not sponsored by CPCS – please contact the organizer with questions. \nOn April 13\, 2021\, ACF launched an ambitious equity agenda to eliminate inequities within federal programming\, as well as within the administration of human service programs in jurisdictions. As a part of that effort ACF is planning to announce an Information Memorandum (IM) outlining ACF’s unequivocal commitment to advancing racial equity and strongly encouraging grantees to assess and address how its programs and policies may perpetuate systemic barriers for children and families of color. \nIn accordance with EO 13985\, the focus of this initial IM is on advancing racial equity. However\, ACF intends to build upon the frameworks\, resources\, and tools developed in the initial focus on racial equity to also address equities across other marginalized communities\, including members of religious minorities; lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgender\, and queer (LGBTQ+) persons; persons with disabilities; and persons who live in rural areas. \nThe Racial Equity IM covers several topics as follows: \n\nThe impact of racism on poverty and the well-being of children and families.\nThe need for comprehensive action to address structural racism within policies and programs that serve as barriers to equal opportunity.\nCurrent work being done within ACF to address racial equity.\nPromising practices conducted in the human services agencies.\nActions ACF urges the field to consider in effort to advance equity.\n\nRegister Here
