SUMMARY:THAT’S NOT DANGEROUS! Sharpening 58A Skills to Keep Our Clients Free
DESCRIPTION:THAT’S NOT DANGEROUS! Sharpening 58A Skills to Keep Our Clients Free \nMarch 22nd and 29th\, 1-4pm each day. Please register here: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.com/e/thats-not-dangerous-sharpening-58a-skills-to-keep-our-clients-free-tickets-271281188337 \nThis program will take place virtually via Zoom and you will receive a zoom link to join a few days before the first class. \nThis program has been approved for 3 CLE credit for each day attended on the following panel(s): \nAdult Criminal\, Criminal Appeals\, YAD\, YAD Appeals \nPlease join us for a two (half) day training on litigating 58A hearings. These hearings have been commonplace in some counties for years and in others there has been a dramatic recent increase in attempts to cage our clients without bail pre-trial. Please only sign up if you can come to both sessions\, and they build on each other. \nThis training will include: \nPre-work: A few pre-recorded lectures on tips for litigating 58A hearings. \nDay One:  On the first afternoon we will have four live mini-lectures on topics like preserving testimony\, discovery cross\, documenting why conditions of release will work and dealing with priors. We will also work in small groups to brainstorm ways to apply these tools in our cases. Between Session One and Session Two you will prep for your portion of a mock 58A hearing. \nDay Two: The second afternoon will be on your feet time. You will practice putting these tools to work for your client’s benefit in a mock 58A hearing. We will also have a mini-lecture on appealing a 58A. \nWe will have to limit space to make sure the small group workshop time is the most productive\, so please sign up soon! \n
