Prior to working for the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), Attorney Kelli Murray clerked for the Honorable M. Page Kelley of the United States District Court in Boston. Kelli joined the CPCS’ Lawrence District Court Office in 2015 as a staff attorney before transferring to the Boston District and Municipal Court Office.
Kelli is licensed to practice law in both New York and Massachusetts. She received her law degree from West Virginia University’s College of Law where she graduated with honors and Order of the Barristers, served as the Chief Justice to the Moot Court, worked as a research assistant to the trial program, competed in the National ABA Trial Competition, and won West Virginia University’s Trial Competition. During her third year of law school, Kelli was a student attorney for the West Virginia Innocence Project where she represented a client who was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder, among other charges. Due to faulty forensic evidence, she was able to obtain a new sentence for her client which made him immediately eligible for parole and he was released from prison.
During law school Kelli interned in the CPCS Boston Superior Court office and clerked for the Honorable Nora Barry Fisher of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in Pittsburgh.
Kelli received her B.A. from Elon University in North Carolina. While in undergraduate school, she interned for the American Bar Association, Fair Trial Initiative, and the Maryland Public Defender’s Office.
