You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to read certain “downloaded” documents from this website and other sources. To install the reader, follow these instructions:
- Click on this button
- Scroll to the bottom of the Adobe page that just opened
- Click on the words “Get Adobe Acrobat Reader free”
- Scroll down to the second half of the page that just opened
- Open the “Platform” dropdown list in the left pane and click on the operating system used by your PC
- Skip the center pane and click on the “download” button in the right pane
- If your operating system is Windows 98 or earlier, a “file download” window will appear – choose save to disk and click “OK”
If your operating system is Windows 2000 or XP you will not see the download window, but will go straight to the next step
- Dropdown the list at the top of the save window and choose “desktop”
- Click the save button at the lower right of the window
- When the download is completed, close all programs (if any) and return to your desktop
- Double click the new desktop icon (probably labeled ar500enu).
- Follow the instructions (e.g., click “next”, “next” “OK”)
- A new icon “Adobe Reader 5.0” will appear on the desktop
- Double click the newest icon, and then click “accept”
- Close out the opened reader by clicking the X at the upper right
- If you wish, you may send the file discussed in 11 above to the recycle bin by right clicking on it, and then clicking “delete” from the choices presented
