Judicial Consent for Minors Seeking Abortion

In order to be certified to represent minors seeking consent for abortions, attorneys must complete a training requirement.

Training Requirement:

The training requirement is satisfied by attending a two-hour training program, Judicial Consent for Minors co-sponsored by CPCS, the National Lawyers Guild, and the Massachusetts Women's Bar Association. A contribution of $20 for materials is requested.

Assignment of Cases:

CPCS provides a list of certified attorneys to Planned Parenthood clinics, (which offer abortion counseling) and some courts. Planned Parenthood and clinics make most assignments.

Performance Requirements:

By accepting assignments on these cases attorneys agree to abide by the CPCS Performance Guidelines for Attorneys Representing Minors in Section 12S Hearings. A copy of the Guidelines is provided at the basic training program, or may be obtained by calling the CPCS Training Unit.
